Becky's store is located on Hwy 226. It's owned and operated by the Cooke Family, the same Cooke family that runs the Ottis Cooke Gospel Memorial Music Park. Becky's serves pizza, takes call in orders, and serves a home style lunch plate: meat, bread and vegetables. An award winning gospel group The Golden Valley Crusaders hosts jam sessions in the store on Tuesday nights.

Kathy Grayson has opened a beauty salon on Highway 226 in the heart of Golden Valley. Just Teazin' is a full service salon offering all hair services, nails: manicures and pedicures and tanning beds. Hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 8:30 - 6:30, and Saturday from 8:30 to 3:00. Walk ins welcome. For an appointment call: 248-1130.

Sammy Greene, also known as: the best butcher in the county, runs the grocery across from the Bostic Post Office. He carries unbelievably good country ham, the salty old-fashioned kind, that leaves you thirsty all day. Many of us buy all of our meats there, they're good cuts and fresh.

Toney's store is a full service gas stop, don't feel like crawling out of your car to pump gas? Stop at Toney's. They also have a grill and serve great burger baskets. Owned and operated by the Toney family in Sunshine they do a booming business. 
THE GOLDEN VALLEY RECYCLE CENTER
The center is located near the Cherry Mountain Fire Department on the Bostic Sunshine Highway. Check with the attendant about regulations, what can be disposed of and how it must be brought in. Hours of operation are Monday thru Friday 6 -8, Saturday 8-8, Sunday 1-6. 
WASHBURN'S

Edward and Katheryn Washburn's store has been in the news more than once. In operation since the 1800's it's one of the last true mercantile stores in Western Carolina. Stop in for a treat, you can buy a soda pop, a wood cook stove, or a butter churn, cast iron pots and pans, Pointer brand overall's, jeans, hats and more stuff than you can shake a stick at. Take your friends down for a root beer and a chunk of hoop cheese. Incidentally, they sell hoop cheese boxes, the round wooden ones, if you're interested.  
GRANDVIEW CAMPGROUND

Conveniently located between Shelby and Marion, NC, the Grandview Campground on NC Highway 226 is open year round to campers of all ages. With 25 full service hook ups they cater to a wide variety of campers and motor-coaches, but offer primitive camping as well. With hot showers, and a laundry room you'll find everything you need to make your Golden Valley camping experience a good one. The campground owns frontage on the First Broad River and a mountain creek; so, if you're interested in gold panning, ask head prospector, Joe to take you to the water for a panning lesson. Come to the Grandview Campground for a weekend, or enjoy year round parking for many weekends of campground enjoyment.

Stop in and see Jean Schoolcraft at Golden Valley's Country Store next to the recycle center in the heart of Golden Valley. She'll be the tall gal running the register. Jean has done a lot to make the store feel like an old-time country store inside. Besides grocery items, Jean stocks fresh produce, local handmade gift items, homemade ice cream, cakes (starters & recipes), tobacco, feed, hardware, plumbing and NCEL (the lottery) and accepts EBT for food purchases. Also, NC Wildlife Big Game check-in station... or stop in for a game of checkers!!!

Sean Freeman and Angel Ramsey have the store open, running and looking good. You'll find gas, ice, cold drinks, bread, groceries and arcade games. This is the Space Station on the corner of the Bostic Sunshine Highway and Calton Road. Their hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7 - 1 and Sunday 1 - 5. Stop in and see them, you'll be glad you did.
